Our Philosophy:

The institution has embarked on a new campus at Thol - on an eco-friendly and sustainable building technology. This campus is self sufficient and planned to use the resources efficiently, which are available naturally. It is a campus where the stream of tradition flows from the past to the present effortlessly. It’s also an effort for the students to realize the importance in the world they stay and make them sensitive towards the issue of co-existence.

The guru-shishya tradition parampara is a spiritual relationship where teachings are transmitted from a guru (teacher, गुरू) to a 'shishya' (disciple, शिष्य). Such knowledge, whether it is agamic artistic, architectural, musical or spiritual, is imparted through the developing relationship between the guru and the disciple. It is considered that this relationship, based on the genuineness of the guru, and the respect, commitment, devotion and obedience of the student, is the best way for subtle or advanced knowledge to be conveyed. The student eventually masters the knowledge that the guru embodies.

NIMS Campus: architectural approach

New campus architecture – an approach towards living spaces that humans co-live with.  It’s also an approach towards an eco-friendly and sustainable building technology using mainly natural materials. Issues of Energy efficiency through use of natural light (courtyards), wind and solar power and being sensible towards natural resource.

A campus – We see it as an interactive environment – where every one interacts with each other, respecting all that is around them.  The architecture would respect the age old wisdom of construction and move with modern learning.   Co-existence and interdependence among everyone and everything.

Construction Techniques – Following techniques are being detailed for the built environment

  • Compressed stabilized earth block construction
  • Composite beam and panel roofing
  • Filler slab system.

Principles of a Eco-building:

A set of eco-building principles based on extensive research into this area goes into making of Eco-friendly buildings:

  • Energy Efficiency :
  • Water Conservation
  • Building Materials
  • Low Environmental Impact
  • Sustainability
  • Waste Reduction
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Economic Performance
  • Community Support
